Low carb diet and cholesterol

Hi,
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
I have a GP appointment later. They want to discuss statins. I am scared. I am 52, type 2, hba1c of 42 and one metformin a day. I walk lots, weight train twice a week.
Tryglicerides: 1.6
HDL: 1.7
LDL: 7.1
Serum cholesterol/HDL:5.6
The day before blood was taken, I had had my PT session and lifted heavy weights for an hr. I have never had LDL this high.
I clean eat, lots of berries, nuts, seeds, salad, veg and protein.
Should I ask for a repeat?

It is not always totally down to lifestyle choices. It can be inherited, do you have any family history of high cholesterol levels?
The only thing I see in what you've written above is possibly the nuts. Do you eat many? Brazil nuts, cashews and macadamia nuts are higher in saturated fat.

Hi,
My LDL has always been good. Yes, I do eat a lot of nuts.
Mum takes 10mg of statin as was persuaded as a preventative measure. She is type 2 and 82.
Dad was on them too but he was morbedly obese with a bmi of 48, smoked 80 cigarettes in his early years etc, suffered a heart attack at 47.
