This is a great opportunity for low-carbers in BC, Canada to add to the body of research:

“The study is testing whether a low-carbohydrate therapeutic nutrition intervention can help patients with Type 2 diabetes get their blood sugar levels under control and reduce their medications.”

“The idea that you can “reverse” Type 2 diabetes, or at least get the disease into remission, is a novel and intriguing one that goes against the current dogma that Type 2 diabetes is a chronic progressive disease.”

I think the research will be looking for people who have never tried low carb before, rather than those already doing it. They have to look at people's ability to go low carb and stick to it., rather than look at anyone who has already achieved going low carb.
Looks good, I hope they can add "proof" to the "anecdotal" experiences of many. It will be interesting to see what the failure rate is, either because people can't stick to the plan or low carb is not good for them.
It's just as well my wife isn't diabetic, she would be incapable of avoiding carbs and partly because of physical difficulties if she doesn't eat carbs. By that I mean the "weak and wobbly" feelings when going without carbs.
