Hi all, I started a low carb high fat diet on Tuesday, checking blood sugars regularly. Wednesday morning fasting test was 3.8 after breakfast it went up to 5.2. As it was so low I did not take my 80mg of Gliclizide. My blood tests have not gone below 5.2 or above 8.6 since starting this diet. My question is, is it ok not to take my meds. My understanding is if I was to take the Gliclizide it would just lower my level even more.

Any help greatly accepted.

LCHF is a good way for many T2s to reduce their medication and even come off it completely in time, but as said you must do this in consultation with your HCPs. But your numbers look promising.

Always involve your health care practitioner , medication health and diet so important

you need to ask dr, but that is my understanding too,

After 15 years type 2 I lost control and my BS rocketed up. Glicazide 40 only brought it down to the high teens. 80 got it to 5-6, but I was feeling poorly. Stared testing because of new meds and was alarmed at how NHS recommended foods spiked me. Ditched most carbs and had to go straight back to 40g as I was too low.
Lost 11 pounds. Want to drive the weight down to see if I can get off the glicazide altogether I don't feel I can do it yet but as the weight reduces hopefully insulin resistance will reduce too.
