LOW CARB FLU

Hi ALL

Just a quickie.

I have been L/C for about 6 weeks now with no side effects, my BG have been coming down nicely and have at one point hit 6.6 so heading in the right direction.

However, yesterday i started to feel rotten like I was going down with flu. Felt hot ache all over occasional sneeze etc but having had flu and knowing how it knocks you flat I am still able to function ok although not 100% so it has the look of flu but doesnt fell like it is.

So, I wanted to ask about something I read about when I started, Low carb flu. Could this be my body reacting do you tthink to all of the change or cvould it generally just be flu but a mild case? My BG since yesterday has risen a little and is bouncing between 8-10

Also since i started my weight hasnt moved which was never my main concern anyway it was my BG i needed to concentrate on. Any advice to get the weight to move, I think I have lost a few pounds or at least my tummy looks less but the scales dont reflect this yet what do I need to adjust. I am eating lots of meat, fish, veg, fruit, stopped milk, dont do **** any more sweet stuff and bread are gone

Any help would be great

Cheers

Tony

Could just be man-flu; a mild cold or virus. That could also raise your BGs a little. More likely than the effects of LC. Losing weight - Don't know mate. Although you're low carbing, what about overall quantities? Maybe need to adjust that. And are you exercising? Anyway, I think you're right to concentrate on the BGs rather than the weight UNLESS you're very overweight. Are you?
Sounds like the BGs are heading in the right direction by the way. Well done!

Tony,

It's more than likely you have a bad cold, if you had flu then it's a safe bet you would be in bed today unable to function.

I use to kid myself I had flu until I actually got it around 7 years ago, I couldn't lift my head off the pillow and was really really ill for around a week.

Most likely a heavy cold!

If you're not already, drink LOTS (not plenty, LOTS) of water. 2L a day minimum. You will not believe the difference this makes.

So Whimpy man Flu then ?LOL

LOL so man flu it is then.

As for the weight loss I was just talking to my partner and she has bought a new book called Carbs & Cals which is a visual look at carbs and calories on a plate. Wow !! it opens your eyes, although getting the low carbs you dont realise the calories you are taking onboard so that might eplain why the weight isnt falling off.

I have weight to lose but am not too heavy so my main concern will remain the BG but i will be revamping the portion sizes from now on.

It is a great little book that shows in pictures everything from a fried egg to a pint of lager and explains how many carbs there are and how many calories but it also goes up in plate size so for example one egg scrambled = x 2 eggs = y and so on i was amazed how many calories I may be taking in a day.

The book is written by Chris Cheyette and Yello Balolia and is available on amazon its full title is carbs & cals & protein & fat

Anyway thanks for all the help as usual

Cheers

Tony
