As a Coeliac with newly diagnosed Diabetes (not sure which type yet) I am looking for acceptable breakfast ideas , low carb, to lose weight, to help me plan ..

Also had my gall bladder removed and the advice given was: no more eggs and cheese for you !!

So, not left with so many options.

Any ideas, tips be greatly appreciated.

At the moment, I have been having gluten free bread, toasted...bland

I am a T2, who low carbs to gain non-diabetic A1cs and lower any future diabetic complications also had my gall bladder out 12 months ago. I was not given any special dietary advice save for "try and see". Many ex-gall bladder owners told me tales of woe about foods they could no longer eat, including my mother.
As low carbing with increased fat consumption had resulted in 18 kgs of weight loss in 12 months and great A1cs 5.0-5.3, I did not want to have to restrict myself from any of the tasty, satisfying foods I now ate. For me, nothing was a problem and my cholesterol figures continue to improve without meds.
So typically I have the bacon and eggs, almond meal muffins, crunchy nut and seed granola, a coconut milk, berry and whey powder smoothie and often 1/2 a grapefuit (I don't take statins) or some stewed rhubarb with choko "fruit' (also called chayote as well but not a UK available vegetable from memory).

BTW........... I have yet to find a gluten free bread that is low enough in carbs to fit in my regime.. If you can get good A1cs with this bread then just go for it! My goal is for non-diabetic A1cs because I deserve them.

I had to be really inventive and organised to get ketogenic with my breakies (Oz slang for breakfasts) as I am not a morning person. I am also a part-time grey nomad, ex-Brit, who travels this huge country to many out of the way places in my caravan, so I have to do a lot of pre-planning. I do like my food to be under the 10 grams of carbs per 100 grams if it is going to work with my mostly "cooked from scratch" menu.

My personal aim is for 30 grams of carbs a day. Bernstein stuff and he seems to know what works for diabetics T1 and T2.

Just imagine travelling through the tropics (as I am now) where pineapples are 39c AUS each and having to ignore them! Soooooo hard when you know that they taste so good!

Thank you clearviews, very interesting and informative...

Thats my intention anyhow, to eat low carb

You are right about the bread and also the crackers I can eat as a coeliac but are loaded with carbs!!!!

Its all a learning curve, and I have had eggs and cheese several times this week with no noticeable ill affect!

Works for me that too

Oh, I am a bit confused here. Are whole grains not good for breakfast if you have diabetes? My aunt who has diabetes sticks to fruits, oatmeal, whole grain cereals and eggs most of the time.
