Hi. Low carb tends to mean different things to people injecting insulin. But some people will use ultra low carb as a way to smooth out the bumps in BG management. There is a T1 low carb program on this site I believe. Also on facebook the “Type one grit” group are regularly geting hba1c numbers below 40.
Low carb also works very well as a weigh loss diet on its own, that was the basis of the original Atkins diet. Generally you would just count carbs and not calories. Keep adjusting downwards until you start to see weight loss.
FYI, i use the MyNetDiary diabetics app. It costs, but not too much. You can log your BG along with a ton of other measurements. It will show carbs, calories, protein, fat etc. Best of luck
