I am really going to try and lose weight by eating as low a carb as possible so here is todays lunch

Brocolli, caultflower, leeks and cabbage mixed up with 2 eggs, some ham and cheese - there is a masive amount of it

Does this sound ok ?

sounds excellent -- sort of a crustless quiche or frittata type dish

That looks fine as a menu. If you are looking to lose weight, make sure you also calorie count when eating low carb. Too many low carb calories will also stop you losing weight.

Hi nicola, err items your choosing sound good ....but the amounts....the only way to lose weight is to portion control, weigh and measure and limit your portions, clive

I did pose the question of using My Fitness Pal yesterday to see if anyone had had experience of using it and it is a good way for losing weight ?

It's a good way of knowing what the values of foods are,and there is the ability to set your limits and daily requirements , and find out your recommended cals per day, so yes

I have been low carbing since 2008ish and don't count calories or weigh food at all. The only things that matter, as far as I'm concerned are:

1. Eating as few processed carbohydrates as possible to ease the load on my pancreas
2. Eating as many non-carby vegetables as poss for maximum nutrition, along with eggs, fish, seafood, poultry, game and meat.
3. Eating a good amount of fat to encourage my body to use that as energy instead of carbs
4. Keeping hydrated
5. Not going overboard with protein.

MrCeleriac makes a frittata with 6 large eggs between the two of us, which usually contains at least 100g of wilted down greens (anything to hand e.g. spinach, kale, watercress, rocket, wild rocket, sorrel, basil, parsley, chervil, tarragon) plus spring onions, peppers, maybe Parma ham or grated cheese or smoked salmon bits. He sometimes makes a whole one then cuts it into quarters for us to have cold with salad.
