Low carbing but feeling low

I am type 2 diagnosed ayear ago in February this year I set out to keep to a low carb diet and reducing portion size.
It has reduced my weight now a loss of 1.5 stone to date and I am very pleased as in the past it has been a struggle
With an underactive thyroid and blood pressure being controlled with medication.

My mood however is low and I feel so tired at times not energised as I expected with diet and extra exercise.

Is there any suggestions ? From anyone who may have similar problems.

Hey there... Carbs and sugars are well documented to help us produce serotonin - so if you're susceptible to low mood, cutting right back on carbs and sugars could mean you're not getting the serotonin you were previously getting. I had the same problem - and now take a supplement called 5htp at times when I feel lower in mood. It really helps me.

Another thing to check is your vitamin D levels; diabetics are often deficient and its also linked with mood. We get vitamin D mostly from the sun - which as you can imagine has most likely made all of us deficient after this winter! So worth trying vit D too as it has the added benefit of possibly helping control diabetes too. If you do get some vit D, get the D3 version. Hope you feel better soon x

Do try the supplements - they aren't for everyone but definitely helped me... Gotta be worth a try x

I swear by Vit D, we don't get enough in these sunless climes. H & B do it in a small spray bottle.

I take a spray by Nutrigold (online company - google it) that's a bit more than some others but lasts for months and was recommended to me by a nutritionist. I took 5/6 sprays in the winter as the weather was so dire, but now have dropped down to 2/3 sprays as we've finally some sunshine and I get out in it as often as possible.

I *think* each spray is 1,000 iu (can double check later) - which is waaaaay above the rda, but if you're deficient you'll need it - and was again what my nutritionist recommended. Obviously you might want to check for your own personal situation. :-)
