I have type 2 diabetes and have been put on insulin only (Lantus & Novorapid) after being on metformin for 5 years. My weight was under control when on the tablets, however since being on insulin I have put on a stone, despite the fact I exercise around 5 - 6 hours per week, the excess weight does not seem to be moving. My question is if I were to reduce my carbs intake will that allow me to in turn reduce my insulin intake.

Hi Millep,
I guess insulin can cause one to switch glucose into fat cells.. it unlocks and opens up all the other cells to glucose including the liver?
You haven't given enough information really but cutting out/cutting down on high glycemic index foods stops my blood glucose spiking.
Do you manage your own insulin based on your meter?
I am managed by diet and I eat to meter reading post prandial.
Cutting down on bread and potatoes and other high GI foods has made me lose weight.
regards
Derek
