I was diagnosed with type 2 14 months ago. I'm managing this well using diet only. Not being particularly muscular I used to have a can of coke if I began flagging while doing heavy work in the garden but as I daren't do that now can anyone suggest a fast acting alternative? As I've now got my weight down I don't have the fat reserves I had last year.
hi Mylor,
assuming that your "low energy levels" are down to low bloodsugar -
my best advice would be to eat a slower acting carbohydrate before you begin
any heavy work.(A preemptive strike against hypoglycemia  )
But if you've not got time for hindsight and you need a quick pick me up,
then how about a banana. Bear in mind, the riper the banana then the quicker
the carbs get into your system - also bananas are high in vitamin B and potassium.
Everyone's happy (apart from mr coca-cola. :wink
all the best,
Timo2.
