Hi all

Question for those on strict keto

Just had bloods done and have low neutrophils. There is some anecdotal that this can be a result of keto . I’m into my 7th year now

I’m a tall skinny type.

I will have a repeat test done asap but wanted to get thoughts ….,?

How low? The range in the UK is 2- 7.5. Mine is 1.4 and have been lower than normal for quite a few years. Docs arent unduly worried but do keep an eye on it.

I’m strict keto & I’m the opposite, I have a elevated count, have done for years, after being called in to GP after a few times after annual diabetes blood tests with concerns it now on my record that it’s normal for me and I’m perfectly healthy

Was your B12 tested at he same time? Low B12 cal also impact neutrophils. If you are having blood drawn, it might be worth giving another couple of ml.

Thanks for your thoughts. I’m a heavy meat eater so it wouldnt be something I’d consider but as you mention it I’ll see if it can be added. The worst part about giving blood is going out and giving it so for me the few extra cc is no problem.
