Hi. I did post about this a couple of weeks ago but still getting my head around this site as I have only just joined. Husband has Type II diabetes. In prep for his check he had blood tests etc. I think they're all OK apart from the low sodium. Have phoned surgery for the result of the second which apparently is quite good but they want to repeat it in a couple of weeks. Just wanted to ask if this is normal protocol when the second one was an improvement on the first please.

I suffer from chronic low sodium levels. A year ago my sodium level went so low that I spent five days in hospital. The only treatment apparently is restricted fluid intake (started with one litre per 24 hrs). I used to have weekly blood tests, but now only have blood tests once a month. I am allowed to drink 1250mls of fluids in a 24-hr period, as long as my sodium reading stays at the bottom of the range at 133mmol/L. Yes, I would say that it is normal for blood tests to be repeated if sodium is low.
 
I kept getting low sodium levels, and was advised to up my salt intake, which resolved it for me, without increasing my blood pressure. I'm not medically trained, so am not suggesting @Bananarama that your husband does that, as it may not be right for him.
 
If he's eating very low Carb, the body removes Sodium due to extra urination removing the water held in the Glucogen (stored fat). Salt intake then needs to be upped, very common Keto problem, But as Hopeful34 said i'm not a doctor and cannot advise.
