Hi all! hope you're all well.
Not sure if this is the right place to post this but here goes-
I understand (sort of) how High Blood Sugars can be dangerous and lead to problems in pregnancy but what about low ones??

Hi mindii,
I think low blood sugars will present more of a risk for the mother and her protection of the baby. Have looked for a possible link regarding low blood sugars and pregnancy but the only ones I can find speak about mother's risk.
Do you know the symptoms of low blood sugars and the actions you must take?
Think about it this way, if you become dizzy, confused etc. then baby could be harmed as you may fall over and put baby at risk.
I hope someone will contribute who has been pregnant and will know more.

Catherine.

I read in a book that low blood sugars can cause developmental problems too but it seems the risk of high blood sugars is worse than the risk associated with increased lows with the tighter control they expect in pregnancy.

I think a lot of being diabetic and pregnant is about balancing between different worst case scenarios
