Hi,

I have been a type 1 for 26 years and been pumping for 1.5 years. Recently i had to lower the basal rate at night because i was waking up with a hypo. I am 52 and i was wondering if there are more pumpers my age that had to change the basal rate at nighttime|?

Hi Maria,

I may not be your age but I'm always altering my basal rates during the day and night, it depends what I'm doing/how active I am etc. I have them saved as different patterns on my pump so that I can flip between them as and when I need to.

Hi Maria

I am now 57 and have been diabetic since I was 10. I got a pump 2 years ago and more or less straight away had very low bg levels from midnight to about 5am, then they start to gently rise up. I'm still on lowish basal rates now but have found that at certain times during the day or during the night.. my bg levels start to change so then its back to the drawing board and altering basal rates by basal testing.......usually about once every month. A pump definately demands attention to bg levels so keeps me on my toes all the time.....
