Lower UTI in diabetes type 1.

Hey there,I'm a 18 years old girl suffering from diabetes type 1.
Earlier i developed a UTI (uninary tract infection) by having unprotective sex.
Again recently,I've been facing the same problems including cloudy appearance of urine,odour in urine and irritation while urinating.
Please,give me a list of antibiotics which can help me getting recovered.

you'll need to see a GP to get a prescription for antibiotics - they'll give you one that's appropriate for a UTI.

You will need to see your GP, as people can have reactions to antibiotics. Appears to run in our family that we are sensative to them and some antibiotics can make us feel worse than not having them.

Only your GP who has access to your medical history can decide which is best for you. If you get a re-accurring UTI it might need a sample taking and growing it in the lab to see if it needs a specific antibiotic for that particular strain of infection.

Thankyou guys,But the thing is I'm not sure about telling this to my parents.
Isn't there any common antibiotic which I can take by myself without consulting a GP?

It depends which country you are in, but in the UK you can only get antibiotics with a prescription. You really do need to get treated, and soon, as UTIs can escalate quickly into serious illness that will make you feel unwell.

You don't need to tell your GP about the sex - you can easily get an infection without any sexual contact being involved at all. If you really don't feel you can go to your GP then you could go to your local sexual health clinic who should also be able to help you and will keep any information completely confidential. If you've been having unprotected sex then a quick check up with them would seem wise anyway, just to make sure you're well.

Theres nothing over the counter to deal with it. think UTI's seam more common in women and was told that you need to drink enough fluids so you can flush out any bacteria to help stop a UTI developing. Once you have one then the only answer is a visit to the GP

Suppose you could say some one gave you a sugared bottle of pop (non diet) and the it caused an unexpected build up of yeast which resulted in the UTI, hence the need for the antibiotic, whether they believe it may be a different story.

I wish the same but I thought there is only one way to get a UTI i.e. sexual contact.
What are the other possible ways of getting infected?

If you have access to the Internet can I recommend looking up UTIs on the NHS choices website. Lots of information there including treatments etc.

Basically most UTIs are caused by bacteria from your anus and digestive system being transferred into your urinary system. It can be as easy as a 'miss wipe' after a bowel movement. A particular concern for diabetics as untreated infections can spread to your kidneys so please do seek treatment honey.

And I'll say it again - if you've been having unprotected sex then it would be really good to get a proper check up. And in future remind your partner that if they care about you they should want to protect both you and themselves by wearing a condom.

Theres more than one way to get a UTI, can't really put this any other way sorry about the way it sounds.

When a lady goes to the loo and wipes herself clean, if they wipe from back passage to the front a small amount of muck can get transfered into the ureather. This in turn can cause a UTI infection as any bugs in the muck travel up into the bladder causing a fungal infection which continues to build up until a discharge or smell is noticed.

This is why it helps to drink enough fluids as not to dehydrate yourself as the fungal infection gets more concentrated causing the infection to grow stronger. Also why ladies should wipe front to back to reduce the risk of any infections resulting in UTI's

Your GP wouldnt discuss your symptoms with your parents, but if you feel uncomfortable you could go to your nearest GUM clinic to have yourself checked out.

GUM clinics provide a free, confidential, non judgmental and sympathetic service , privacy and to preserve the dignity of their patients.

Dont be frightened/ashamed, get the help you need to put your mind at rest, and while you are at the GUM clinic you can pick up free condoms as well.

Hi,
As others have said women can get UTIs without them being sexually linked, it happens frequently.
However If you think that you may have a sexually transmitted infection and don't want to see your GP then you can go to a STI/GUM clinic.

You can make an appointment to go there, or sometimes there's a drop-in clinic (which means you can just turn up). You might feel embarrassed but there’s no need: the staff at these clinics are used to testing for all kinds of infections. It’s their job, and they won’t judge you. They should do their best to explain everything to you and make you feel at ease......... You'll be asked for your name and some contact details. You don’t have to give your real name if you don’t want to. If you do, it will be kept confidential. Your GP won’t be told of your visit without your permission.

If you have tests and the results aren't available during your visit, the clinic will need to contact you later, so give them the correct contact details. They will check how you want to receive your results: they can usually be given to you over the phone, in a text or in an unmarked letter

I live in India,and here,we are not provided by any STI/GUM clinics.
And being sexually engaged before marriage is considered a disgrace.
The society won't accept.
This is the thing why I'm being reluctant to visit a doctor because they'll involve my parents.
I feel lost.
