lumpy and red skin after administering insulin

hi,
i am new to the forum and would appriciate any help with my diabetes. after having my insulin injection i have swollen (lumpy and sometimes reddish skin )which becomes normal after some times.just wondering if any of u had or have this problem and what could be the reason for this and any solution for this problem (lumpy skin).

Welcome to the forum :wave:
Am sorry to hear of this but it would help to know -
Which insulin are you injecting with ?
How long have you been using the insulin also ?
This can help us to help you .

Levemir insulin, can give a lipos injection site skin reaction.
It is with an - allergy reaction to the preservatives in the insulin.
If you ARE using levemir insulin, please check out the manufacturer's packaging label.
It is all explained in there.

The area can become red swollen [hot to touch/tender under the skin]
They can be intially sore and then later can become itchy.
If it spreads in size and is causing painful discomfort.

It is always best to return to your GP/DSN show and explain this to them... :thumbup:

Sometimes 'IF' very severe a change of insulin can be the only option.
As its an alllergy thing to the preservatives in the insulin.
[As was in MY own case and experience!]
I changed from levemir to hypurin porcine isophane insulin.
An animal insulin that I can tollerate far better .
