Type 1 Machu Picchu inca trail

Has anyone with type 1 and on insulin injections travelled the inca trail?

I'm going travelling next summer and was thinking about South America and wondered whether I would realistically be able to do a 4 day trek in the jungle. Mainly what to bring in case of hypos etc, what did you eat, how did you manage your insulin...?

I remember seeing a FreeStyle Libre associated comment (whether here or on facebook I can't remember) but they were T1 and used the Libre which proved most beneficial for them - if I was doing what you're doing I'd certainly invest in some!

Thanks for the advice. I already use the freestyle libre (would recommend to anyone) so it was more a question of how to actually manage it and how gruelling it is.
