Hi,Hi, I am just hoping for a bit of reassurance please.
I am 40 years old and have had type 1 diabetes for 24 years. I have got macula edema in both eyes, and have to go back in July, as at the moment my sight is good, and no treatment is required. I am just very scared as I’m guessing that it is quite likely that I will go blind at some point in the future.
Has anyone had macula edema, and had it reverse or improve without treatment? Or has anyone had treatment a long time ago, and now stable?
I’m just so anxious about it all the time, and would appreciate any advice or reassurance.
That’s really good to hear! Glad things have improved for you.Hi,
If it’s any consolation to you.
I was diagnosed a few years back with it. Had treatment, vast improvement. & still hold a valid entitlement to drive..
Is blindness likely with macula edema?
Hi, from what I’ve came to experience, it was distorting the central field of vision.?[/QUOTE
But does that eventually lead to total blindness?

Thank youSevere visual impairment if left untreated & monitored. I’d say so.
Just grab those appointments with both hands.
I'm confident you will be fine..
Thank you for your advice and support xThank you
