One of the reasons we are screened for maculopathy is that, in the early stages, there are no symptoms (such as pain) which would prompt medical attention. It seems far more likely that your pain is due to other reasons such as the need for up to date glasses or a sinus infection. The best plan would to make an appointment with your optometrist and explain the problem. They will be able to do a thorough examination and, if the problem is related to your eyes, they will be able to refer you to the eye clinic or prescribe you new lenses, as appropriate.
