Hi guys
Just went on major departure from diabetes 101 , ate entire bar of choc, admittedly 85%, followed by mug cake drenched in cream and sugar free syrup. My libre is quaking. No exercise for 3 days. Need to get back in gear. Hardly ever go into rebellion like this. X

Look, i don't want to rain on your parade, but a 100g bar of 85% choc is around 20-25g carbs. And a mug cake, well, if it was low carb, then it was around 10g carbs. And if it was carby, then you are probably talking 25-40g carbs.

So, if you insist on calling it a blip, then at least call it a triumphally controlled blip.

I'd not beat yourself up any more that posting this thread has already done. You can't change history and your Libre will track your bodily function. That'll give you an indication of the transgression. Why beat yourself up be chanting a mantra of "Xgr carbs!?" and beating yourself up.

Some things work out better than others, but probably having a whole bar of chocolate too regularly isn't going to be the best idea.

Back in the saddle and resume whatever regime you have chosen to follow. Self-flagellation rarely achieves much.

I guess I was panicking. Don't want to return to my previous ways of eating. Not sure it was beating myself up, more just panic. This is certainly no sprint.

Big hug, as ever, @Brunneria!!

@Brunneria Even with that and what else you have had today you are probably going to be well under say 80 to 100 Gms of carbs still basically low carb so should not do you to much harm just get back on track tomorrow. No need for a guilt trip.

It was me, not @Brunneria! But you are right. And the BG is now back in target. X

The last blip I had was full sugar cheesecake. It happens and we go on.

My blips tens to be far worse than that.

It's calorie related not low-carb related, but eating a 200 g pack of toasted almonds in a day like I've done in this last rainy Sunday is not a nutritionally sound thing to do. Especially if the plan was to make a ride in mountain bike.

I am not perfect, so I agree with all the other people here. Don't be ashame, factor the problem, and eat a bit less on the following days to compensate!

I have two sorts of blips - carby and non-carby. A non-carby one would be buying a tub of roasted salted almonds and eating them all in a day. A carby one would be having a packet of crisps after giving blood. The carby one pushed my BG much higher.

But, either way - learn from the experience, and move on.
