Hiya DanHi Everyone!
Was just wondering if there was anyone out there to have a chat and be friends?
I’m 23 and have been Pancreatically challenged since I was 4
Was wondering how people have coped through 2020? I know personally I’ve gone off the rails a bit with my control (Doing blood tests like usual) and hasn’t been a great year in that regards but looking forward to getting back on track in 2021!
Would be interesting to hear other people’s stories
Feel free to reply to this or pop me a message always happy to chat
I'm so sorry you had to go through all thatHi Dan, welcome to the forum.
I’m not exactly young these days but wanted to say Hi anyway. happy to chat anytime
2020 was rough but somehow made it through home schooling, getting covid, diagnosed with T1, keeping my job & keeping up with my studies. Through all the difficulties there’s been lots of good moments too so I focus on the positive.
How was your Christmas & New Year? What are you looking forward to in 2021?
I'm so sorry you had to go through all that
How are you coping with the diabetes? That must of been a shock
Hiya Dan
I'm leyla
I hope you've managed to jump back on the band wagon now? It certainly has been a rollercoaster for us all.
I've had type one since I was 4 I'm 31 now.
If anything i found covid gave me the kick up the **** I needed to get my bg back in control. I was an absolute nightmare! (And I'm a nurse!)
the best thing to be done (in my eyes) was to get as healthy as I could, so If I did catch it, I'd at least be giving myself some form of a fighting chance against it (I also have asthma and no thyroid, and work in the hospital - I'm nuts clearly haha)
I've loved lock down in the sense that I couldn't go out and socialise, so it gave me space and time to get this under control.
Its taken me a good couple of weeks but I'm getting there and looking forward to my next hba1c so I can do a celebratory dance
What's your story then
Leyla

Hi dan,
Im 26 & was diagnosed when I was 14. Personally for me lockdown hasn't been an issue, i work from home most of the time anyway so it hasn't been much different. Ive kept on top of my fitness goals, stripped more weight & started to tone up quite nicely. In terms of my bloods they haven't been the best so in November I decided to push my diabetes team into letting me have a pump & it came in the post yesterday.
I start training on the 7th of January so 2021 should be exciting.
Sounds like you really had it all last year
Glad you’re able to focus on the positives though and still going strong!
How have you found coping with T1?
Christmas and new year was certainly different this year but looking forward to 2021! I’d just love to be able to go on holiday again without having to worry about anything!
What about you?
Hi Maco!
Can imagine it must of been difficult being diagnosed older? Nice work on staying fit during lockdown and that! Did you ever get a trial run on a pump before getting yours? I’ve been on a pump since about 13 and absolutely love it! Which pump did you get in the end?
If you have any questions about being on a pump just ask
