Hi guys was just wondering if you could help me out. This may be a strange question but what do you guys use to carry your diabetes kits in? - Reason why I am asking is that I currently use a shoulder type canvas messenger bag (size is medium to large) which Is great to carry my kit in and lunch etc for work and serves me very well, however, what I am looking for is a decent (smallish weather proof shoulder type bag for the times I go out to functions, parties, nights out etc where I only take the minimal kit (ie - blood glucose reader, insulin pens couple of small vials of very berry juice for hypo treatment (just in case) and a small box of biscuits etc) and the bags I currently use are just too big and.... dare I say it.. not quite 'dressy' enough lol). Any info you can give about where I can find one would be great or any pictures of what you guys use would be better - I have looked around and ones I have found are just too big or too small .or not quite right for nights out.....said it was a weird question!! lol

I understand the frustration, and I have a number of bags/pouches that I use depending on the situation.

The best "minimalist" pouch I've tried so far is actually for runners. The pouch is just long enough to fit my Novopen Echo but still large enough to fit my accu-chek meter, 50ct test strips, accu-chek fastclix lancet, and a few extra essentials. It's called the "Amphipod Endirance Plus Pouch." I got it for $10usd and probably would have paid 3x that in retrospect. The added bonus is that it doesn't look like a medical pouch and doesn't draw unnecessary attention,

My larger travel case is a Tumi Alpha 2 Split Travel Kit. It's definitely much larger, but it is currently holding 4 weeks worth of supplies for me without trouble whike I'm on an extended road trip for work.

What about something like this?

You won't need a bag and you can get your meter, test strips, both pens, lancing device, needles, spare lancets and dextrose tablets inside. It'll fit in your back pocket (jeans etc) or inside pocket of a suit jacket for functions, etc.

Going a step further in terms of discrete kit - the Dario Smart meter is slightly bigger than a cigarette lighter and uses your smart phone to display values, etc. So if you already carry your phone (which most of use do), then the only things in your pockets are pens, needles, the lighter sized device and dextrose tablets.

I've never needed something as large as "a bag" for any of my kit.

Just looks like a medicine bag so not discreet .....
Show me something more discrete than that; which will fit the supplies which @Postleneo needs to carry...

It's a lot more discrete than a shoulder bag. That pouch will fit in a pocket, a shoulder bag won't.

The small bag I posted a link you carry and at smart functions no one would know it's carrying medicine. Putting a small bag in pockets is busy and might inadvertently fall out! Each to their own. If I were a male I would go for the brown leather one! lol

I'd hazard a guess that the 95% of men who are planning a night on the town would sooner carry their kit in a pocket than in a handbag

But you're right, it is personal preference at the end of the day - so whatever suits the individual's taste and requirements is all that matters.

I have a wife and she has a handbag!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know this thread is about a man bag @Postleneo , and I'm a laydeeeee, but I just wanted to say @GrantGam1337 I use a Small-in-One and it's great this time of year because when I go out for walks I don't want to be carrying my handbag, and the case fits perfectly into my jacket pocket.

Joshing here, but @therower I remember a rule from when I was a kid, 'you want it, you carry it'! Not sure that 'want' is the right word in this case, but you know what I mean!

Still, if this means that Mrs Therower has a vast selection of utterly gorgeous handbags courtesy of @therower and his need for stuff to be carried, then I am not only very pleased for her but also greeeeen with envy!

Hi @ Snapsy. Myself and the wonderful other half have an agreement.
She carts my pen and meter around in her handbag along with all her STUFF.
I have upon my person car keys, phone, 1/2 pack jelly babies and my wallet.
If I need to test or inject I go to her.
When she wants to buy something she comes to me.
It suits us ( her ) down to the ground.
Sorry to go off topic but Snapsy started it.

What about a small leather bag?

Amazon have some pretty nice looking leather unisex cross-body bags.

This one would maybe look like you had a vintage camera https://www.amazon.co.uk/PAUL-MARIUS-leather-bucket-LAUTHENTIQUE/dp/B00IMFRW7O/ref=sr_1_1?s=shoes&ie=UTF8&qid=1477922923&sr=1-1&keywords=small+leather+bag

This is very "man bag" I mean, it comes with a carabiner for Pete's sake! https://www.amazon.co.uk/Hengying-G...=1477922923&sr=1-5&keywords=small+leather+bag

Or this one can either be worn across the body or attached to the belt and comes with a "fluent zipper for pleasant use" ha-ha! https://www.amazon.co.uk/Hengying-G...1477922923&sr=1-17&keywords=small+leather+bag

For genuine leather they're not a bad price really!

Hope you find the man bag of your dreams!

@therower beat me to it, other halfs handbag! For non formal stuff though I tend to wear cargo trousers rather than jeans, lots more pockets to fill!

Thanks for your comments and suggestions guys... really appreciate them and gives me something to go on
