Hi, I'm Marvin, I'm 64 and I've been Type 2 for four years, diet controlled. Been having lots of health problems since Christmas, and for no real reason did a blood glucose test.... discovered my BG was fluctuating between 9 and 22 instead of between 4 and 8 where it used to be. So now I've just had to start on Metformin and am feeling sick as a parrot. Will have to take the diabetes more seriously from now on, so have decided to sign up to the forum for some moral support.
When you're diet controlled and don't normally do testing its easy to "take your eye off the ball". I'd recommend all diet controlled diabetics to do a blood test from time to time just to check everything is OK.
I'm not very "talkative" so probably won't post much, but look forward to dropping in from time to time.

Hi Marvin,
Welcome to the forum. Congratulations on being diet only for four years.
Have you had to take any medications since you have been ill? There are quite a few that will raise blood sugars.

Look forward to your postings.

Catherine.

The doctor looked at these carefully, and discounted it as an explanation, hence the new regime. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be working, though its early days. Anyone know how quickly the metformin ought to kick in?

Hi Marvin and welcome. :)

Hope you get the new regime under control and start to feel better very soon.
