As the header states am I wrong in what i am doing you be the judge, I was diagnosed a being type 2 about 8 years ago and at the time due to an intollerance to Oral medication was put on to insulin (Novamix30) injecting twice a day, in January 2008 I had my yearly check up , found I had put on nearly 7 stone in weight, my hBa1c was 7.3 even though I was on a fat free high carb diet, time for an action plan to get this weigt off, I was taken off the insulin and put onto Metformin twice a day .

Wanting to manage my own progress I changed the whole way that I see diabetes, having suffered the hypos and hypers I wanted some control I change my diet to a more normal regimen eating little and often and having some thnigs that I had rejected in the past things like Ice Cream and sweet desserts ( I can hear you saying is he mad) far from it as I will go on to prove ,

This Year In January I went back for my annual check up and found that I had lost 7 stone and a lot of inches off my waist, ask how I did it , my specilist nearly fell off his chair, This is what I told him Thanks for the change in medication that has helped a lot , but most of the weight loss is down to regular exercise and the daily MARS bar ( yes you did read right ) a little of what you fancy in some curcumstances wont hurt you , and my hBa1 this year 6.9 colesteral 4.7 and my bp was normal , and I am 58 years old .
So was I right or wrong? I feel better now than a year ago . :)

Welcome to the forum.

It doesn't sound like you're doing anything wrong. Congratulations on both the weight loss and HbA1c reduction. It just goes to show, one more time, that we are all different in how we control our condition.

Regards, Tubs.

I agree with Tubs. Far from doing something wrong, you have simply worked out what works for you. Your solution, I suspect, wouldn't suit many people, but the important thing is that it seems to be what you need, so well done for having the courage to experiment.

Thank you for your comments , was not sure when I put it on the forum what reaction I would receive , I agree it may not work for all if any but I was not prepared to sit and do nothing yes I have experimented with diets but hey I used to be a chef and love my food once again thanks.

hya and welcome,
well done you,
as already said, we all have to find a way that works for us and you found yours so thats all that matters :D

Congratulations mel,
Your post was so refreshing and yes, you are doing something right, something that works for you.
It goes to prove that we are all different , I just wish that I could eat something I fancied every day and not see my blood sugars rise. I do rebel sometimes but am unable to do it on a permanent basis. :( :(
Catherine.
