Hi, and welcone!
Go to the search facility on the Board Index and search for 'Newcastle Diet'. There's a current thread, too, called something like 'Starting the Newcastle Diet on . . .', started by Geordie. It will appear on the 'New Posts' list almost every day.
It's an 8-week, very low calorie diet using one of the meal replacement brands plus a good amount of vegetables. It seems to work very well for both weight loss and blood glucose levels, if you can stay the course. It's very restricted.
I tried it for about 10 days with Slimfast, and it certainly works for the weight. Then I bought a cooked chicken and rent it limb from limb - I needed something to chew! so I went back to Atkins. One meal replacement has more carbs than I normally eat in a day, so I mixed mine with water instead of milk. They were okay.
It's worth checking with your GP before starting such a low calorie diet, particularly if you have other health problems.
Hope this helps
