You could always try not eating anything? A bit of intermittent fasting sometimes can kick start weight loss.I have been following a low carb diet but the weight is coming off very slowly - only a pound a week. I have decided to replace 2 meals a day with a meal replacement mix. I have purchased Almased and it tastes awful. This mornings one I added a teaspoon of cocoa to and this evenings I made with cold coffee - that was also awful.
Has anyone used meal replacements that actually taste Ok and, if so, what did you use?

Hi,
I'm not knocking the advice above so far.... What meds are you prescribed? Type of diabetes etc..? Your current profile status is unclear in this..
I don't claim to be a weight loss guru, but the above appropriate amendments may help with a reply...
Almased is just over 30 percent carbs - almost all from sugar - is that going to help?
Sorry but that is completely irrelevant.. your body can't read the packaging..but it is honey not the white stuff
I have tested various foods with different GL and GI numbers - total rubbish as far as my digestion is concerned - sugar is sugar, starch is starch and it treats them exactly the same.Hi Resurgam
I am aware of that, but it is honey not the white stuff. The glycaemic load of 1 portion is 4 and the glycemic index is 27. It is only for a short time.
I'm delighted you're losing on your current regime.Hi Jaylee
I am type 2 and have been for 20 years. Have eventually realised that this extra weight is not doing me any good. My HbA1c was 62 at my review at the beginning of July.
I am on metformin, alogliptin, and gliclacide for blood glucose. Whilst on these meal replacements I am not taking the gliclacide. I am also on perindopril and amlodipine for blood pressure and lipitor for cholesterol.
I have been on low carbs for just under 2 months and have lost 10lbs but I thought the weight would come off quicker. I am obviously eating too much. When I saw "The truth about carbs".the patients seemed to lose more weight than that in 2 weeks!
I thought I would try meal replacements for a short while, 1 month maximum, and I intend to have 2 meal replacements a day plus 1 low carb meal.
I'm delighted you're losing on your current regime.
Youre on similiar meds to me except I'm on insulin not Gliclizide. No Gliclizide means you're not asking your pancreas for extra insulin anymore. The fact you're losing in those conditions is excellent.
Are your bgs excellent too?
I only lose if I'm in 5s, stable and long lasting.
Getting less insulin may be the reason why you're losing.
Any exercise?
only a pound a week.
