Has anyone ever found out who put @Southport GP on the Low Carb case?
According to his presentations it was someone from this forum.. I think they should be identified and offered a "Services to T2" medal.
Thoughts?

They do indeed deserve a medal! Maybe they are shy?

My understanding was it was a patient of his who had made significant changes in her life and went to talk to him about it. He asked the "simple" question of "How did you do it?" and he went from there.

That's the story as I recall it.

I try to never underestimate the power of the simplest of questions.

Doctors need a very open mind to get it. Of course there are middle aged male doctors who get it, but has anyone else noticed younger and female seem to be qualifications which make doctors a bit more open to rationality (I write this as someone who is older and male!)

It wasn't me. But I'd like to shake that lass by the hand.

Medals all round for everyone who is helping to spread the word that there’s a better life with diabetes than a meagre existence of deprivation and pills

Doesn't Dr David Unwin also deserve a medal?

No. The GP for taking it further, would be more appropriate.
Many health forums have theories but putting them in practice is far far harder. Putting it out into normal circulation is the bravest achievement and was a huge risk and still is since not all diabetics lose weight on low carb eating alone. Or need too. GPs appreciate some treatments don't work for all.
I feel the forum does understand this stance but not always preached as heavy as some diabetics achievements are not equal. Visual achievements aren't the only proof of success. Surely?

The Dr was treated with much suspicion from some forum members, had to prove identity, the forum was a very different place then.

We still ask those saying they are HCPs to provide proof of qualifications.
