Non-insulin injectable medication (incretin mimetics)
Just wondered if anyone found it necessary or advisable to get a medic alert or similar for T2 diabetics?
Thanks

Hi Dawn, I would say a medic alert is advisable if there's the chance of having hypoglycaemia.

Hypos can be quite common for people with type 2 on insulin and sulfonylureas for instance.

If there's a heart condition present, then having medic ID is a good idea in this case too.

Hi Dawn, Alaska's right, but I see you're on diet only. So unless you have some other medical issue, you don't need one for your diabetes.

Ok thanks for the replies. Not sure yet what the docs are going to recommend for me, in the early stages so will see how that pans out.

I wear a warning bracelet, although I don't suffer from hypos. I use only diet and exercise and 2 x 500mg Metformin.
However, If I were to be involvd in any kind of serious accident, I don't want anyone putting me on to a glucose drip. it also has my husband's mobile number.
it's a stainless steel ID type bracelet. It doesn't interfere with anything i do and I NEVER remove it. I swim often.
Even if it's not necessary, i feel more secure with it on.
