Hi Angela
I refuse to take statins after having a bad time with them - leg pains, muscle weakness. This time last year I could barely walk 100m. My total cholesterol was 5.0 last time of testing, which I know is thought to be a bit high, but my lipid breakdown and Total/HDL ratio are fine, so no more statins, thank you! Apparently older people and women need a bit more cholesterol - I choose to believe that anyway!
On the other hand, some people have no problems at all with statins.
I would take Omicon if I was offered it - can't afford it off prescription.
I do take BP meds - 2.5mcg (?mg?) of Lisinopril at bedtime - but I expect to be off them when I've lost another stone or so. If your BP is fine, and there's no other reaon for the ACE inhibitors, in your place I wouldn't take them. Your choice! My BP was 120/83 last time, which I'm quite happy with, given my age and weight.
In your place I'd have a good google round - there's lots of info out there - and make up your own mind. An interesting anti-statin site is 'spacedoc.net' - but it is very very anti, so I'm just suggesting you read it and see what you think, about it and the author.
All the best
Viv
