I'm wondering why my meds are before breakfast (2x metformin and 2x Gliclazide) and then the same before dinner.

Nothing at lunchtime just seems a bit odd - any ideas?

The Metformin seems to have less of a side effect (gastric disturbances) if it is taken with food.
The Gliclazide will stimulate insulin production ~20min after taking so I suspect your HCP is trying to counteract 1) B.G. due to Dawn Phenomenon & 2) the BG due to your dinner.

and leaving my lunch alone! that's the bit that strikes me as odd if 2) is right!

With most of us T2s The "carbyest" meal will be dinner, so if there are only 2 doses of Glic to be given, the HCP has gone for the two times with greatest B.G. load. whilst on glic i found my Glic was best at supper!
With Metformin, unless 3 tablets are needed, the 2 tabs will build up over the long term.

This is why I feel that BG strips should be provided for new diabetics so that they can see how their BG varies due to foods (i.e. if Frosties "spikes" them more than bacon & egg & how much a small "roastie" "spikes them )

I was given a new meter and strips at my meds review on Friday past - my bloody fingers are sore now though lol
