A Mediterranean diet may help people avoid the small areas of brain damage that can lead to problems with memory and thinking.

In this study, not eating a mediterranean-like diet had about the same effect on the brain as having high blood pressure.

I think that most of us who have adapted a suitable diabetic diet are following the Mediterranean diet, maybe not to the letter but with most of the suggested foods.

Interesting research Catherine.
The same researcher has apparently also shown that a Med diet may be associated with a lower risk of Alzheimer's disease and may lengthen survival in people with Alzheimer's disease.
I'm not sure about the latter as I'm not certain that I would want to live longer with Alzheimers.

I shall now go and feel virtuous, my dinner tonight is red mullet on a bed of roasted Med veg (with some rosemary potato wedges on the side, they're not strictly authentic, maybe it should have been just been some local sourdough bread or some couscous )
