Hi
Has anyone had experience of the Medtronic 780 g with Simplera smartguard, when ill or away on holiday and levels are around 15-20 mmol, on my 640g I used to set a temporary basal of 25-50%extra to combat high levels. I don’t know how to increase the basal without taking smartguard off. I have a Libre sensor with me but not sure it would work with the 780g. The algorithms aren’t coping with high levels. I have a pen with me and have sent pump to temporary target of 8. Wondering whether to shoot a couple of units on the pen. Ketones are small 0,3.
TIA

SmartGuard doesn't cope so well with Illness or changes in routine/stress from a holiday. By the time it's learnt you need more insulin, the need for it has passed. For something like that, I think it'd be better to come out of SmartGuard so you can keep on top of it more effectively.

Thanks Nicola for your reply. I have a Libre
with me but I don’t think it works with the [emoji[emoji6

I appreciate your reply.

Even if it did read the libre 2 (which it doenst), the smart guard would have the same issues anyways, smartguard is from the pump not the sensor, so changing the sensor would make zero difference
I tend to just cheat horribly for holidays and/or illness and just tend to tell it I've had more carbs than I've actually had to help bring the sugar level down for illnesses (and less for holidays cos I always go low on hols)
Can still happily use the sensor perfectly fine, dont need to not use it if you're not using smartguard (or cheating like me), the sensor still works perfectly fine

Ps. I'm still using the G4 with the 780g (I still haven't had the upgrade option yet ), but it'll be the same afaik

I think smartguard uses sensor reading to determine insulin required, at least that’s what the Medtronic user guide says

Seems the pump is doing its job, levels much better the last couple of days. Thank you for your replies.
