I’m new to using the pump as of Wednesday the 9th and things have been going really well so far. I’m down to 71 units of insulin left in the pump, which should last me until the morning when I plan to refill. Would it be a good idea to replace the entire infusion set at the same time?

Hi Ricky. The standard infusion sets should be changed every three days and the extended sets up to seven days.

So if you’re near to the deadline you could change the set then.

It’s good to know you’re off to a good start and your control should continue to improve as your pump gets to ‘know’ you.

Hi Ricky,
Good to read such a cheerfully pleased post about the Medtronic 780g.
Which sensor are you using?
Hope it all continues swimmingly for you.

Hi Ricky. Medtronic recommends that when you change any part of your infusion set (reservoir or rapid set), you change the entire set. But, of course, sometimes it's annoying to do so. For example, right after I changed everything, the insert that connects to my body with my skin it unplugged because it got caught on my pants. So changing the infusion set seemed like a bad idea, so I just put in the new insert. The pump thought I was going to change everything because I followed all the steps for changing the cannula and reservoir, but when I got to the "Fill Tubing" option, I selected Next.

(I didn't need the fill tubing because it was full.) On the next screen, under "Fill Cannula?" you must select Fill

and continued with the other parts without changing them.

And yes, you must disconected the NEW infusion set with the tubing and reconected to the older. This don't appear in the manuals but I did and all was OK. But I am not doctor and I can't recomended nothing that because Metronic has not given the go-ahead for it to be done.

Regards
