its a shame you got the wrong answer though
the 780g uses simpera sync, not simplera, so you do NOT use the simplera app
you actually use the Medtronic minimed app, which show the cgm data, and pump details
let me guess
tandem
medtronic
omnipod
ypsomed
the medtronic gives better control than the tandem, because of the way corrections work, the pump is more aggressive and has lower targets (which are adjustable)
the ypsomed shoukd be good so long as you have an android phone AND your hospital gives you the camAPS app (mine dont) not much good without camAPS
tandem and medtronic have the biggest insulin supply if that is a consideration. ypsomed the smallest
omnipod has the advantage of being tubeless, BUT you in the UK you have to carry the PDM with you, which is mobile phone sized
for me the move from tandem to medtronic was the right one
Yup, those are the choices. And yes, the pre-loaded PDM the hospital provide for omnipod is HUGE, so that makes it a no-no, which is a shame. And no sign yet of a PDM download for ios.
In my mind, the tandem and Medtronic are the best choices
Pros and cons to each though
Looking from the outside in, that’s the conclusion I’ve come to but it’s invaluable to read the experiences of people like you who are now looking from the inside out.
Looking out from the inside?
Looking in from the outside?
I think I’ve just about decided - now looking at how to make a contraption that’ll keep the pump safe but easy to access. Exciting.
One thing I dislike about the Medtronic 780g (apart from the stupid guardian sensor) is the insistence of entering carbs in 1gm units. Why not 5gms, or at least allow the user to specify what increment to have? Not sure who asked the question Re - choice of 4 pumps , I was on Ypsomed (not HCL) but was due a new pump , discounted tubeless , Ypsomed lovely little small user friendly pump , I was going HCL so I am apple and I didn’t want to get android and was happy to try another pump , tslim like the look and colours of graph reading but a while b4 I could get 1 so the team said the Medtronic would be better for me , and I wanted to start HCL asap ,we were all surprised that I received Simplera sensors , I am so happy with Medtronic ( I had Medtronic before Ypsomed and I did not like Medtronic had problems with Bluetooth and reading .

But that's my whole point! - if I want 40g I don't want to press it until it reaches 40g, overshoots to 48g, then have to press down for 8 units. Much rather press 8 times 5g. Does that not make sense? Or at least have the OPTION to choose what increment! Who in their right mind wants to enter values that are not multiple of 5....Yes but if you press and hold it goes fast, it only takes a few seconds to get 100g carbs in
Everyone who regularly has low carb meals I guess...Who in their right mind wants to enter values that are not multiple of 5....

I totally agree and felt the same when I was fed up with the Guardian Sensor FOR THEIR UPDATING, CALIBRATION NOT ACCEPTED and then end up CHANGING SENSOR.... until I switched over to Dexcom G7 although they both dont communicate with each other but thats something I need to compromise with as GS is giving me some mental issues and now I am feeling much better despite of being less in range. It's been hinted that I won't qualify for a Simplera because I'm a fairly recent recipient of the 780G + Guardian Sensor (I love the pump but hate the sensor). I don't understand the whys and wherefores of this but apparently I must have signed up to an arrangement to continue to use the Guardian 4 for a lot longer. Yuk. Really worried and angry.
780g doesn’t bother me size wise. I clip it to my pj bottoms or otherwise lay it on the pillow. Some use long tubing and put it on the nightstand.I also have the famous four pumps to choose from. I'm currently using the Omnipod 5 on a 3 month trial and after a good start I'm really struggling with the algorithm and although its flat lining it's always now hovering around 10' to 11 and doesn't doesnt seem to want to correct its. I think I'm correcting about a dozen times a day, every day! Anyway I'm now looking at the Medtronic 780g with he simplera sensor as I believe the algorithm is possibly the best and will suit me more. One question how do you find the size? It looks larger than other pumps and I'm a bit worried how I will sleep as I sleep on my sides and front ish and for ever toss and turn. I worried that I will end up laying on it and be uncomfortable. I will most probably clip it to my pyjama shorts

I agree. I love the 780, however lately the sensor life has become unpredictable. I really wish they would get the Simplera going in the US. I’m having. way too many updating, change sensor too early….like on day 3, updating immediately after Warm up, Enter BG multiple times through the night, etc,……it’s bizarre. The last month especially. I know how to handle the sensors. Last year I did not have these issues very often. There’s nothing different about my application. I wish they would focus on quality control with the sensors. Company rep told me they are hand made. At this point, I have zero confidence I will make it through one day with reliable sensor performance. It’s unfortunate. Great product and I’m their biggest cheerleader, but this issue has to be addressed soon. I read other brands exhibit similar issues, so….no real options. In real world it’s only slightly larger than the tandem…. I don’t really notice the difference
The algorithm on the 780 is far better as it corrects every 5 minutes.. also it’s correct to target, not correct to range.. and it learns from past days so it creates its own basal profiles, so after ‘smart guard’ has started control is great
With my tandem I would constantly sit around the 9 to 10 mark over night waking with a bg of 9
The 780 even if I eat late and don’t bolus it will battle my bg and I will be at 6 by about 3am
The 780 can also be set to have a lower target of 5.5
I’m 4 months in on the 780 and seen substantially better hba1c and massive increase of time in range
