Hey all, I rarely post but often read here.
Lately I’ve had a problem where my pump and sensor won’t chase the target glucose using Smartguard.
In reality, Smartguard has never really been friendly, but I’ve tweaked and changed my day to day lifestyle to make it bearable.
I used to be low very often and between endo team and Medtronic rep we all decided it was better to target 6.1mmol rather than 5.5.
I do lead an active life most times of the year….
So the last few weeks, Smartguard has literally decided that if I’m under 10mmol that’s good enough. Hey it’s in target right?!
So I’ve gone back to a 5.5 target, I’ve tried running out of Smartguard and back in manual for a day to get it to pull its finger out, I’ve tried dosing extra and running close to low in hope maybe it will hold it down near target but nothing is working.
Nightly I float between 8.8 & 9.8 all night with the very occasional microbolus here and there which doesn’t lower bg at all.
I’ve heard the tandem is very good in that you can program your basals to suit your lifestyle variations but I’m stuck with Medtronic for quite a while yet.
My control is usually very good mostly in the 85% + range and that’s still the same however my daily sg average is now high 7’s instead of 6’s.
Any ideas???
