Hello,

I've been reading the posts in the pump forum with interest over the last couple of weeks as I finally got a pump from my pre-conception clinic about 5 weeks ago. My consultant strongly advised me to go with the Medtronic Paradigm pump as it came with CGMS availability. This wasn't my first choice (wireless omnipod was winning before then), but with the available functionality it sounded like it would be a good choice and clearly had the backing of my healthcare team.

I'm the first to admit my diabetes "control" has been verging towards chaos for the last 20 years (diagnosed in 1989). I think the pump itself is improving things, and I was hoping that the CGMS would help get things sorted a bit quicker...

NIGHTMARE

I have the Enlite sensors with the minilink. I get 5 sensors every 3 months. The first sensor I put on in clinic came off when I got into the car. The second sensor didn't track anything properly (more below). The third sensor refused to connect to the transmitter so didn't "talk" to the pump (medtronic are sending me a replacement). The fourth one is in now and annoying the life out of me with its constant error messages. Has anyone else had similar problems? I'd really like to know that I'm not alone on this...

I find that the CGMS is not tracking my blood sugars well at all. I'm not talking about the 3-5 mmol difference between blood and ISF readings. I'm talking about my blood meter telling me I've gone from 6 to 20 mmol over night and the sensor saying I've gone from 4 to 10 mmol overnight. Or the sensor telling me I'm "above 22.2 mmol" for over 4 hours, when actually in that time I've come down to 10 mmol. I am testing at least 8 times a day (on waking, pre and 2 hours post meals and pre bed) and calibrating with the pre meal and bed readings as recommended. I'm really not sure what else I can do.

And then there are the endless "lost sensor" errors, when the sensor is less than 2 inches from the pump at all times...

I think I'm just fed up. Any suggestions, advice or just "I've had similar experiences" replies would be most welcome.

I have been on the sensor now for about 4 weeks, initially put on due to pregnancy however my consultant last week did say they are going to consider it longer term once baby is born...

ive been hit and miss with the sensor wit cal error's, also 3am alarm going off saying im low when in fact 6.0 (last night lol)

overall however i have found the cgm a lifesaver, i am suffering with depression/anxiety and i have not been able to go anywhere on my own or with my 2 children, or even look after them on my own due to fears of going low when im alone (no hypo awareness) and its slow but I have been able to do more now because i do get occasions where it does work and the 2am alarms which have stopped what would have been a paramedic attendance hypo :)

when ive had my problems with the sensor ive been told to turn off for a while then turn back on, or in 1 circumstance i hadnt fully charged it so take it off and charge for a few hours.

I dont have a problem with sticking as i use tagaderm film which goes over the sensor :)
