Hello, this is my first post. I was diagnosed as a Type 1 diabetic in 2009 when I was 58 years old, after I had a lumpectomy. It was thought that the trauma of the breast cancer had triggered the diabetes, whatever the reason, it was a terrible year! I survived the cancer but was dealt a worse blow with the diabetes! I have found it very challenging and often feel overwhelmed by the daily grind of managing the condition, despite fantastic support by my diabetic team at my local hospital. In 2018, I went onto a Medtronic 640 pump which I’ve grown used to after a number of failures with their various infusion sets until the MiniMed Advance became available for me This year I needed to update the pump and I chose to try the Medtrum Nano pump because of the no tubing, the discreet pump size which could be worn on various places on the body and the fact I could swim with it. I attended a face to face training session and for two days it seemed brilliant, then I had two alarms during meals demanding a patch change and a final alarm at 1.30am to “change the patch”, all within 13 hours. At this point, I restarted my old 640 pump and asked for a further training session on the Nano. That is due to be on July 13th, but I’m thinking should I change pumps?
Could I have any feed back from anyone using the Nano and the filling of the pump, how do you get around the unexpected “change the Patch” alarm? In fact any feed back would be very helpful.
