I would like to see a more open-minded approach and support regarding diet for diabetics. One diet-type does not fit all, in my opinion.
Also, I would like to see less of a 'tick box' exercise and more of a personal, holistic approach to diabetic reviews, considering these to then become more constructive for each individual. I hate the 'tick box' approach whereby the nurse does not appear to be interested in 'me'. It's boring, condescending and apart from checking pulses in feet, I could easily do the check and send in a report without feeling patronised etc. Many diabetics will be better informed than the Diabetes nurse at the surgery and so why can't this be acknowledged instead of getting the impression the nurse is feeling threatened
Good luck
