i'm a 16 yr diabetic. on insulin since 3 yrs. my sugar levels fluctuate often leading to tiredness & body weakness. i feel mentally tired n thus am not able 2 study well. kindly suggest something! :(

The simple (or maybe not so simple) answer is to reduce the fluctations. Its hard to be specific about how to do this without knowing what you're doing already, but a course such as DAFNE should help help you control your levels better and feel much more in control of your diabetes instead of it controlling you, lift your mood and help you study.

Ask your DSN about a DAFNE course. It stands for Dose Adjustment For Normal Eating, ie you adjust your doses to what you want to eat, instead of eating to a fixed insulin dose. Also teaches you how to adjust your insulin for activities, illness, safely correct high readings etc. Some courses cover the same but have different names. There are similar courses online so check back here if DAFNE isn't available in your area (or the waiting list is too long) and someone will point you towards web resources (sorry I don't know any specific ones).

Meanwhile try not to overcorrect hypos or highs, this can make your levels swing wildly up & down and cause tiredness. The standard amounts of carbs suggested to treat hypos are way too much for some people.

Here is a on-line version you could take a look at which covers the same theme as DAFNE:
