Hi, I thought it would be as simple as reading a diet sheet, but after posting a couple of times on here realised, as all have said, its down to the individual, it is a bit hard, but I have found, after going through the '' don't enjoy my meals'' stage, I don't find it too bad now, the ''snacking'' bit is still hard, but no doubt I will get there, I do all the cooking so its just really cutting out the carbs for myself, I even have spegetti bog, but I have shredded cabbage, of course I make my own sauce, (always have done) I cut the cabbage, in long strips, like taggitelli, and still have the grated cheese over it was quite supprised how nice it was, its just trial and error really, but I'm sure you find some ideas on here... good luck
Have done the cutting down on the carbs especiallywhen my weight got stuck plus it helped a lot when I kept feelinh really hungry and must say it worked.
A further update... From January this year till now I have lost a total of 1stone..My start point in 2010 was 16st 2lb and am now 13st 7.8lbs. I cannot tell you how pleased I am that the low carbing has had such great results.
I am now at my halfway mark as my goal is 11st. For my height of 4'11" I should be around 8-9st by all accounts which I have never been even in my young years. I did once manage to get down to 9st7lb and not only did I look ill I felt it as well. 10st was a good weight for me then but I'll settle for the 11st at my age. Perhaps I will alter that when the time comes... we shall see.
I am pleased to say that since this last post I did go on a calorie controlled diet and lost 30lb up to Xmas of 2010.
However, I then stalled for a couple of years which was so very frustrating but at the beginning of this year I started a low carb diet allowing at the most 60 per day. I have been able to lose another app. 14lbs which I am delighted about plus my Db diagnosis has been extremely favourable which the nurse was very pleased with too.
I think that the main reason for my dilemma was the fact that I just didn't want to face up to having to cut back on all the carbs.. in particular bread! (and of course the cakes and chocolate! )
A days menu would be:
Breakfast - Oats 35g + Honey 1/2 Tblspn
Lunch - Eggs scrambled 2 + Finn Crisps 2
Evening - Cheese 50g + Lettuce + Tomato + Beetroot 50g + Salad Cream 20g
Supper - Brazil Nuts 50g
Extra - Milk (for teas) 200ml
Cals 1176 Carbs 60 Fat 80 Protein 48 Sugars 29 Fibre 9
Hi Foxglove and congrats. on your success so far, your menu looks much better than the previous one.
Try to eat some protein with every meal. How about some nuts with your breakfast oats, and some meat or fish for supper. Meat is incredibly nutritious and appetite-suppressing. If you need a snack , snack on protein/fat, not on carbs-they are like an addictive substance to some people.
