Hey,

During lockdown was diagnosed with TYPE 2 diabetes and managed to get this under control using diet alone sticking to low carb and testing. I started a new job a few months back and this approach went right out of the window and went back to mainly eating what I like and didn't order test strips...

Last week I found some old but not expired test strips that I had forgotten about and out of curiosity tested a couple of days ago and noticed how high my levels were and it scared me into action again, since then I've been back on the Low Carb diet but not been able to get back down to decent levels.

I wake with it sat around 10.7, then eat and this will cause it to increase a few, it will drop again a little before next meal and soo on until it's bed time and before going to bed I'm still then sat around 9/10 and it remains this way until I wake.

Does this mean I've screwed the pooch and no longer able to treat this with diet alone any longer ?

Well done on taking the bull by the horns and getting back on the low carb wagon. I’d say it’s only been a week so it’s still early days, keep at it and remember it’s a marathon not a sprint.

No canine interference here... it just means you're human...

Even coming on here and posting that takes some guts - well done!
One way of getting a bit of short term insight and motivation may be to use a CGM, have you considered that? we all have different concepts of what "low carb" means (I, for example feel something catch in my throat when its "low carb" and not "low carb, high fat") - but the key point is that we're all different, and what happens in your body is something that only you can find out; nobody can tell you...
