People often complain about how their meters do not give true readings when compared with others.

If you feel strongly about this issue there is an e-petition which needs signing if you believe that people with diabetes deserve access to meters that have proven accuracy.

I'm all for accuracy, but I see this is promoted by a meter manufacturer that I have never heard of, anybody know anything about their meters? Strips seem very cheap but you don't seem to be able to buy the meter itself on the spirit healthcare website.

I found the petition on the IDDT website. I hope that people do not think I am promoting any particular manufacturer.

Looks like the product has been discussed before on the forums. However, I am slightly dubious of a manufacturer starting a public petition that could lead to the removal of competing products.

They are asking for an independent review, they are not the ones who will decide. It may even not be in their own best interests.

we already have meters of a proven accuracy, and can self calibrate vs standard solutions.

what is your definition of proven accuracy? do you have a particular uncertainty and repeatability, and how much will it cost to achieve it for every diabetic in the UK

The meters we currently have serve the purpose, nothing more. It would be nice to have a more accurate meter but I'm quite happy with mine at present.

Most meter companies give them away, they want us to use their test strips. You cannot expect calibrated lab standards of accuracy. As mo1905 said they serve the purpose, keeping us safe.
