Meter Not reviewed?

Thank you xyzzy

Iam sure it will all come down to cost in the end but I will give it a go and will report back after my appointment tomorrow. I feel happier knowing I cant get a hypo though so thank you for that I was really worrying about he medication. I guess it all boils down to knowledge I just wish everything was a bit clearer and consistent. There seems to be so much varying advice out there it is difficult to know what to do. Love this forum though really helpful actually talking to people who are managing their diabetes seems to be the best way forward. I am going to check out recipes and foods as again this is a problem for me working on the go all the time I usually grab a sandwich do I need to find some ideas for lunches and also breakfast was always ceral or toast so need to rethink all that.

No problem I've posted you some stuff on your other thread which may help.

when and IF the doctor thinks you should have them.

My surgery doesnt even want me to test, so I have to pay for it all myself, not even a prescription where I could use a pre-payment certificate. Many people are in the same boat. I buy my stuff from Amazon.

I have a codefree meter as well. It is easy to use, and results take five seconds. The main reason I bought it was because of the price of test strips. Amazon sell 50 for £6.99 which I am happy to pay, compared to other test strip prices I have seen. All in all for me as a newly diagnosed, it's great, can't fault it at all.

Lucy - seriously, I doubt you will get test strips cheaper than £6.99. I test A LOT so this is great. I don't feel restricted by budget as to how often I can test.

Now I have got used to the meter and testing, it is really easy. And I have had help on another thread, and the lancet that comes with the kit doesnt hurt me as much now.

I am not sure how often to test though. I am testing:

first thing in the morning, before getting up
2 hours after each 3 meals and
just before I go to bed.

Is that enough?
