meters

I have been using the Contour meter for my testing. The surgery has sent me a new meter and said I have to use it as it is cheaper. When I compare the readings with my Contour it can be as much as 2 difference. I know meters are not too accurate but 2 could make the difference between having or not having a hypo.

Many people are now being told what meter to use as the NHS tries to save money. All meters are required to be accurate with certain tolerances. When testing, it is better to look for patterns or trends rather than a one off reading. The lower the reading, the more similar all meter readings should be as I think the tolerance is +/-10%.
