The meds said once a day but the Dr said to take twice a day. Do I take with breakfast and dinner or can I do lunch and dinner? Is it bad to eat oatmeal for breakfast? I also have to start taking Statins (I also take thyroid meds and Zoloft) I just hope I can function with all these meds.

Hello joeyK, welcome to the forum , usual practice would be to take the tabs with breakfast and again with you evening meal this slows down their absorption a little which helps,
Most posters here go low carb high fat and this means avoiding flour , rice potatoes , pasta, wheat products ,these are all high carbs which in turn are readily converted into glucose ...not what we want as diabetic( s)
I will ask. @daisy1 for the info pack for you, keep posting and let us know how your getting on,clive

Do whatever your doctor says but always take Metformin with meals, it is not important which meals. If oatmeal raises your blood sugar above your target level then it is not good. There are several statin debates on this board and it might be a good idea not to start another one.

Is high fat meal OK with very high cholesterol though?

The interpretation of High Fat is still up for debate. I interpret it as just not following the Lo Fat fad. If a product in the supermarket says Low Fat I put it back on the shelf. As for cholesterol it depends on how high you think very high is. The W.H.O graph here seems to suggest that there are a lot of people who would wish to have higher cholesterol.

Finally, some people have reported on this board that having gone LCHF their cholesterol level has gone down. If that's what you want then there shouldn't be much harm in trying.

EDIT: Made it clearer

Surely its sensible to take them 12 hours apart so perhaps 8am and 8pm, which ties in nicely to breakfast and dinner time?

but my tryclecerides were normal at 88 so who knows
