Hi, assume you are type 2?
I am not sure the Metformin would cause any problems with blood pressure or high blood sugars. It would seem the high blood pressure reading was because you were in hospital and the staff didn't seem overly worried about it. I believe your blood sugars can rise when you are ill - how much higher I do not know. I don't test when I am unwell as I expect them to be all over the place then anyway.
You have a chest infection and are on antibiotics. If you are taking cough mixture, it can have a lot of sugar in some versions. And some cough medicines can't be taken due to your asthma. You don't say what you are eating which may be the problem.
Not sure if this is any help. Where you thinking the Met was causing a problem?
