I have been taking Metformin for 4 weeks now I started on 1 a day and was told to increase the dose by 1 tablet every 2 weeks so just completed week 4 on 2 tablets. So far so good have not had any tummy issues at all but I have noticed since being on 2 tablets a day that my appetite has decreased. I have always had a good appetite always said I could eat for England but never had a high starchy carb or sweet diet and have never been overweight
Has anyone else found this on Metformin that you do eat less since being on it, I have heard it said it can help you loose weight so is this because it decreases the appetite. I don't need to loose any weight I am happy where I am now but worried I will if I am not eating so much

I never found it decreased my appetite but the victoza has, though I do have I few odd days where I am hungry

Yes my appetite decreased whilst I was on Metformin. It took the edge off my appetite, but I could have eaten more if I had needed to do so.

Have been on metformin 1000mg twice daily for 7 yrs now. Only a few side effects at the start then absolutely fine. Helped me get under control quickly. Didn't affect my appetite but that said the initial diagnosis hit me and I went a bit crazy with my diet by fasting too much and basically skipping meals. Minimal weight loss issue (didn't need it as I'm BMI 23). That said my physician said that even at a 'normal' weight any additional weight loss can have a very positive impact impact on your BG. So maybe it's worth it if you're not in control.
