Hi

My morning BG is always with in 5.1 to 5.5 range no matter what level of diet/exercise control I do on previous day. I have seen people 's bg in the morning going down 5, but for me it never goes down 5. Is it normal? Or am I supposed to increase my metaformin? I take only one tablet in the night after food.

Regards

I think you might be overly worried about the numbers and I don't think increasing Metformin would make that much difference in your case anyway.

If you Google "Normal blood glucose levels" you will find many references to suggest that the numbers you are talking about are good for a non diabetic.

Personally I'd be delighted with 5.5, do use Google, and so long as the source is of good repute, no problems.

Partially out of curiosity, partially for calibration and partially out of concern for the individual, I have occasionally taken a BG reading of someone without diabetes. The reading has always been around 5.1, 5.2.
You have nothing to concern yourself about with those readings.

Thanks for your reply. But I can see in this forum where most people report their bg <5 in morning bg every day topic.

I m trying to understand more about my bg pattern, but couldn't find out why my bg doesn't drop much between bed time reading and morning reading. It consistently remaining same level, for example last night bed time it was 5.5 and this morning it was 5.4 after a period of nearly 11 hours. Any explanation?

Your FBG is within the normal range for non-diabetics. The normal range for the majority of healthy individuals is between 4 and 6 when fasting. We all have unique bodies. Some people run in the 4s as a baseline, some in the 5s. Both are normal.

Your body runs in the 5s. So does mine. You must never compare yourself with others because no two of us is alike.

Are they type Is or type IIs? What about anyone on this forum who doesn't add to that thread? Please don't try an be like everyone else, what if everyone else is wrong? Especially in the morning when so many people on this forum experience Dawn Phenomena.

Regardless of everyone else, what do you think your BG should be and how does that compare with what diabetes.co.uk say.

May I suggest that the very best you can do is make sure that your BG is within what the guidelines say. In my case trying to find a pattern is useless, just when I think I've got it, it does something weird.
