Afternoon all!

After the usual tummy tingles after starting out on the twice daily 500mg regime, I've now noted I'm constipated...

GP tells me it is not unknown but very unusual...told me to take over the counter laxatives in first instance and add flax or chia to my low carb calling...Most days I sit at an overall count of less than 60g carbs.

Anyone else in the Metformin bunged up club?

When i started on the 250 I was severely bunged up for 3 weeks only managed once a week tried loads of stuff non worked , then went back to almost normal (tummy gurgles) been on 500 x 2 for 4 weeks not noticed any change.

Slow release or regular? .. if slow release watch out for the explosive diarrhea when the dams do burst open.

Slow Release...

Lol! I've got a bunch of conference calls starting, can you imagine?

Flax and chia can be the cause of constipation, not its cure. They ought to be milled or ground and eaten in small amounts - they can cause problems as they absorb water and swell. Chia in particular has been known to cause internal injuries and blockages.

Appreciated - thanks! Ground and milled was the plan in titchy amounts too

Not had a problem with my one Metformin a day other than it gave me ridiculously loud farts of an evening!! That seems to have stopped now though thankfully!!
