Metformin slows the release of glycogen from the liver but I'm currently fasting to (among other things) deplete my glycogen stores. Is it worth stopping the metformin or will 500mg a day make no difference?

As I understand it, wiflib, Metformin isn't active on a dose by dose basis, but cumulatively, so missing one does usually makes no difference. Some people can be very sensitive to Metformin, but if you've been on it a while, I'm sure you would have worked that out by now. See how you get on.

Thanks :-)
I'm pretty sure such a small dose wont make too much difference but I'll stop it for as long as I fast.

Almost 48 hours now.

5 days now and apart from being stuck on a train with someone crunching crisps and somebody else eating something that smells divine, this is easy.

7lbs down.

How is your fasting BG for the past few days?

Funnily enough, I've just had my first batch of strips delivered as I haven't tested in years and its 5.1
That's probably very normal for me as I usually get HbA1c's in the fours.

Day 6
I'm tired today but probably because I spent the weekend sleeping in the back of a van and catering for a small festival, and I was up at half six this morning. I have the second batch of broth on the go and I'm feeling hungry for the first time but to eat would still be a choice, not a necessity. I only wish I could find other folk who have done this so I can pick their brains.

I'd like to know the best thing to break my fast with. I fancy a hot egg with butter and salt and I've also go the lovely fat and meat from the broth but I think it should be protein, rather than fat.

Good proteins and fats...whatever that would serve as good materials for regenerating our stem cells...continue to avoid refined carbs...

I've not eaten any carbs for ten years let alone refined ones. I do eat too much fat though and have some weight to lose, hence the fast; I want to be fully fat adapted but not eat too much fat at the moment to burn off the last of my fat stores.

Day 7.

I broke my fast with two eggs with salt. I could eat so much more but I'm taking it easy. A friend remarked on my ketotic breath so obviously I'm very happy with that :-)
